"The Schlegel Group has been community builders for more than three decades ...
Family-owned, RBJ Schlegel Holdings Inc. began with private hospital operations in 1967. The company has evolved into a provincially recognized operator of quality long-term care and seniors' retirement home facilities - including The Village of Winston Park Continuum of Care Campus here in Kitchener Waterloo.
R-B-J has been involved in developing lands in southwest Kitchener since 1986 having developed or currently developing over 5,000 residential housing units. RBJ Schlegel is also involved in developing the Williamsburg Town Centre in southwest Kitchener, a major commercial mixed-use node hub with approximately 350,000-400,000 square feet of commercial/office space. Also, six apartment buildings are planned to increase densities immediately surrounding the town centre, and to facilitate a pedestrian oriented “town within the city” project.
The pioneers who originally settled the historic Williamsburg are of Kitchener were hardworking, dedicated and entrepreneurial. Max Becker, born 1904, was of the same spirit and through successive entrepreneurial farming ventures eventually settled onto what is today's Williamsburg town Centre site in 1963.
Strength and stability are the hallmarks for the Schlegel name as well and are the cornerstones of the Williamsburg Town Centre neighbourhood lifestyle shopping plaza which anchors the development."
